Reach to Recovery
When people first find out they have breast cancer, they may feel overwhelmed, vulnerable, and alone. This is a time when individuals are not only dealing with the emotional stress of the disease but also trying to learn about complex medical treatments and choosing the best one to pursue. Reach to Recovery provides assistance to individuals to help them cope with their breast cancer experience from diagnosis through treatment. Specially trained volunteers provide individuals with a measure of comfort and an opportunity for emotional grounding and informed decision-making. Volunteers are breast cancer survivors who give patients and family members an opportunity to express their feelings while talking about their fears and concerns.
